Red Snapper Recruitment are seeking candidates for a vacancy with the Homlessness Prevention Taskforce in the South Central region.
Although this is a This is a probation service role and the skillset is similar to a Probation Service Officer, there is no direct contact with people on probation. The role involves caseworking referrals to housing suppliers to help sort accommodation and manage them.
Summary
Location: This is a fully remote post
Contract: Temporary, for three months initially
Pay Rate: £14.99 per hour PAYE / £19.74 per hour Umbrella
Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of people who are currently experiencing a housing crisis, and provide a service that seeks to minimise the duration of that crisis;
- Understanding the complex, multiple needs as well as strengths of those individuals; and develop trusting, non-dependent relationships to improve their confidence and motivation to progress towards their next step in housing
- Empowering individuals to find their own solution to their housing crisis, drawing on the assistance provided by the Homelessness Prevention Taskforce.
- Create individual Personal Housing Plans for everyone in housing need to sustain existing accommodation and/or find new housing, taking account of their personal circumstances and keep the plan under review.
- When providing case manager support, to contribute to the delivery of the Risk Management plan and report significant changes relating to risk of harm and/or of reoffending or any non‐compliance within agreed enforcement procedures.
- To use computer based systems to produce, update and maintain records and other documentation within agreed timescales.
- Ensure effective referrals to services and facilities and communicate with offender management staff, interventions staff, service providers and external agencies to review progress and associated risks.
Person Specification
- Experience of giving advice and information to vulnerable client and working in a busy front line environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk assessment and management, and risk prevention tools and options.
- Experience working in a supported housing setting.
- Some experience working in a criminal justice setting.
- Some knowledge of core legislation such as the Housing Act 1985, Housing Act 1996 as amended by Homelessness Act 2002, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, housing needs issues, related legislation and case law.
- Experience of negotiation/advocacy/mediation.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo Ministry of Justice vetting.
