Digital Assets and Financial Crime Lead

Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Digital Assets and Financial Crime Lead.

Act as the organisation’s specialist lead on cryptocurrency, digital assets, blockchain intelligence, and related financial crime risks, providing expert analysis to support due diligence enquiries, enhanced reviews, and corporate investigations.

Translate complex crypto and blockchain findings into clear, defensible, and commercially relevant insight for client reporting, while advising case teams on appropriate investigative approaches, research methods, and tools.

Strengthen internal crypto capability through guidance, mentoring, training content, and oversight of specialist research accounts that support investigations, analysis, and client-facing delivery.

Support the corporate investigations team by delivering enhanced due diligence reports involving corporate structure, beneficial ownership, reputational risk, sanctions exposure, litigation history, and governance integrity.

Location: Twickenham (fully office-based)
Contract: 2-year fixed-term contract
Salary: £51,500 per annum

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the internal lead on cryptocurrency, digital assets, blockchain intelligence, and related financial crime risks.
  • Provide specialist crypto analysis for due diligence enquiries, enhanced due diligence reviews, and corporate investigations.
  • Identify and assess blockchain-related risk indicators, including wallet activity, sanctions  exposure, fraud typologies, source of funds/source of wealth concerns, and high-risk links.
  • Translate complex crypto findings into clear, proportionate, and commercially relevant  analysis for client reports.
  • Advise case teams on investigative approaches, research methods, and tools for cryptorelated enquiries.
  • Develop internal guidance, typologies, and best-practice resources to strengthen crypto capability across the team.
  • Monitor crypto regulation, digital asset markets, sanctions, blockchain analytics, and financial crime trends.
  • Train and mentor colleagues on crypto fundamentals, blockchain tracing concepts,  investigative techniques, and risk indicators.
  • Create client-facing training content and technical material for manager-led delivery.
  • Manage relevant overt, covert, subscription, and specialist research accounts supporting investigations, analysis, and training.
  • Support the development of crypto-related services, methodologies, and client propositions.
  • Review crypto-related findings to ensure analysis is accurate, defensible, and aligned with client requirements.
  • Deliver enhanced due diligence analysis covering corporate structures, beneficial ownership, reputational risk, sanctions exposure, litigation history, and governance integrity.
  • Support corporate investigations by identifying red flags, evidential gaps, and risk-relevant findings that inform clear, defensible client reporting.

Person Specification
Essential:

  • Strong practical knowledge of cryptocurrency, digital assets, blockchain intelligence, and associated financial crime risks.
  • Experience conducting or supporting due diligence, enhanced due diligence, corporate  investigations, intelligence, or financial crime analysis.
  • Ability to identify and assess crypto-related risk indicators, including wallet activity, sanctions exposure, fraud typologies, source of funds/source of wealth concerns, and high-risk links.
  • Strong analytical and investigative judgement, with a methodical approach to complex and sensitive information.
  • Excellent report-writing skills, with the ability to translate technical crypto findings into clear, defensible, and commercially relevant insight.
  • Confident advising colleagues and case teams on investigative approaches, research methods, and appropriate tools.
  • Credible communicator and trainer, able to mentor colleagues and present complex topics to varied audiences.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities to a high standard.
  • High standards of confidentiality, integrity, ethical research practice, and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience using blockchain analytics, open-source intelligence, or specialist investigative platforms.
  • Experience developing guidance, typologies, checklists, or best-practice resources for analytical or investigative teams.
  • Experience designing or supporting training content for internal or client-facing audiences.
  • Awareness of evolving crypto regulation, sanctions, fraud trends, and digital asset market developments.
