Volunteer Vehicle and Cycle Maintenance Support Assistant

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of the team, your responsibilities may include:

  • Carrying out regular cleaning and basic checks on police vehicles (such as oil levels and tyre pressure)
  • Maintaining and monitoring vehicle equipment and inventory
  • Reporting any damage, loss, or faults promptly and ensuring kit meets required standards
  • Escalating vehicle issues to your line manager where needed
  • Transporting vehicles to and from workshops for servicing and repair
  • Supporting workshop teams with the delivery and collection of parts
  • Delivering and positioning Public Support Unit (PSU) vans at planned locations
  • Cleaning and performing basic checks on police cycles
  • Coordinating vehicle cleaning at approved external sites
  • Providing a consistent, reliable, and high-quality service at all times

  • A team player who can also work independently
  • A full, valid driving licence (essential) which must include C1 and D1 (should you wish to assist with PSU van mobilisations)


Desirable Skills

Previous experience of presenting vehicles to a high standard
