Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for Authorisations Officer (EO Grade) for a Government body.
Location: Remote with occasional meetings (expenses covered)
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract until end of March 2026
Salary: £28,282 per annum (pro rata)
Vetting: CTC
To ensure good quality, timely decisions are made in relation to applications for registration, in line with IAA standards.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Consider documents submitted to the IAA related to the proposed immigration business (the policies and procedures) and determine if these provide sufficient assurance of the organisations likely compliance with the Commissioners Code of Standards.
- Consider documents submitted to the IAA related to the fitness and competence of applicant advisers and the level of authorisation they are seeking. This will include reviewing qualifications and self-declarations.
- Effectively interpret the results received from Intelligence and Disclosure and Barring Checks.
- Liaise with applicants where information is unclear or requires amendment, setting timeframes for receipt of documents or further evidence.
- Make recommendations for pre-registration premise audits and carry out these audits where it is most effective to do so.
- Approve applications for registration where organisations meet the required standards, ensuring all workflows are completed and levels and categories granted to the organisation and individual are correct.
- Recommend to the Authorisations manger the refusal or limiting of registration where requirements are not met, or assessments indicate insufficient competence.
- Assist with the defence of negative decisions to the Immigration Tribunal where such decisions are appealed.
- Support is provided to applicants, regarding the processes or standards
- Respond to enquiries regarding the application process by organisations considering or engaged in applying for registration.
- Explain the regulatory standards (the Codes and Guidance on Competence) and their application, to applicant organisations where it is clear these are not fully understood.
- Correspond with the applicant organisations and/or individuals regarding amendments required to application policies or processes and implications of assessments results once received.
- Ensure all cases are progressed in a timely fashion, effectively managing a large workload in the region of 100+ open applications at any point in time.
- Refer applications to the regions where the initial assessment of the organisation suggests there may be a fitness issue of concern regarding the organisation.
- Refer for competence assessment applications which require testing ensuring correct details of assessments required are forwarded.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience in analysing information to produce an evidence-based conclusion.
- Experience in responding to queries and seeking information both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of basic immigration law and practice
- Good organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of using a case management system to store and retrieve information and produce reports.
- Knowledge of the IAA Code of Standards, Guidance on Competence and supporting practice notes.
