Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Financial Intelligence Officer for a Financial Intelligence Unit in the Channel Islands.
The postholder will be responsible for the analysis, development and enhancement of financial data obtained from SARs and other relevant sources; to produce intelligence primarily aimed to instigate or support investigations into money laundering, associated predicate offences, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.

Salary: EGlll or EGlV or EGV or SO1 or SO2 – £53,271 – £56,719 or £58,444 – £61,707 or £63,404 – £66,950 or £66,990 – £75,458 or £73,242 – £82,506 per annum, (depending on experience)
Vetting: Will need to be able to attain SC
Main duties and responsibilities
- To undertake activities to support the AML/ CFT Strategy to ensure and promote its effectiveness and compliance with the FATF International Standards on AML/ CFT along with other international standards in respect of Bribery and Corruption, Terrorist Financing, Sanctions and Proliferation.
- To ensure the prompt and accurate recording of FIU data and to maintain records relevant to own work area.
- To support in the administration and development of all FIU databases including THEMIS to ensure compliance with the FATF International Standards on AML/ CFT.
- To maintain an awareness of developments in relevant legislation, policies, emerging trends, and international standards relating to AML/ CFT.
- To undertake general financial or transactional tasks and assist with the subsequent reporting tools and strategies.
- To undertake training in financial intelligence and continuous professional development to maintain accreditation and knowledge of emerging developments/ trends.
- To provide general administrative support when required, including taking minutes for meetings.

Person Specification
ESSENTIAL
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to undertake written research, extract relevant information, evaluate, and draw conclusions in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, maintaining a methodical approach to working practices with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Able to always act with a high degree of integrity, to be entirely trustworthy and display an excellent understanding of the need for complete confidentiality when dealing with secure or sensitive matters, information or documents.
- A high level of IT literacy, including the ability to utilise open and closed intelligence sources and bespoke systems.
- A flexible approach to working practices to adapt to the increasing changes, demands and challenges faced by the FIU.
- FIO:
- A knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and best practice guidance, including the National Decision Model and National Intelligence Model.
HFIO/SIO:
A sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and best practice guidance, including the National Decision Model and National Intelligence Model.
HFIO/SIO:
Proven management or supervisory experience and able to demonstrate an ability to lead and develop staff in accordance with their roles and personal requirements.
FIO:
Ability to undertake financial intelligence investigations in support of a wide range of criminal, civil and asset recovery investigations.
HFIO:
Ability to undertake complex financial intelligence investigations in support of a wide range of criminal, civil and asset recovery investigations.
SIO:
Ability to undertake and lead on complex financial intelligence investigations in support of a wide range of criminal, civil and asset recovery investigations.
Desirable
- A proven investigative background including a sound understanding of intelligence-based methods accessible to Law Enforcement.
- Experience/qualification in AML/CFT/CFP.
- Experience or knowledge of financial services and products.
