Senior Support Workers

Senior support workers are there to provide effective support solutions for tenants in their own homes. They are expected to meet the often complex needs of the individual. The company has established a distinguished reputation as a high quality provider of tenant and one-to-one support and counseling, so the position holder would be expected to meet if not exceed these standards. The role includes additional support for lower-level workers who require training and guidance.

The successful candidate would reflect strong people skills and would respect the individual’s right to choice, individualism and dignity. Knowledge of tenant’s rights legislation would be a great advantage. As well as proven experience as a one-to-one support provider, evidence should suggest that the candidate would work effectively as part of a team and have knowledge of a company’s policies and procedures. Experience in staff management and supervision of staff would be a great advantage.

Academic qualifications must include an NVQ level three (or working towards achieving it) and at least two years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities. The position holder would have an enthusiastic and energetic disposition and would reflect strong skills in empathy, diplomacy and problem-solving. A successful candidate would have the ability to care and understand the needs of both the individual and the demands of an operational team. Some delegating and administrative work is required as well as flexible hours (including the possibility of evening and weekend work).

The role also requires developing a significant understanding of Community Integrated Care’s standard procedures and policies as well as in-house practice standards and reputation. The position holder is expected to set an example for junior members of staff and build a network of relevant regional and national contacts. The position carries a large amount of responsibility in the organisation, so a prospective candidate should be fully aware of the duties that they wish to undertake.
